In
a career spanning more than forty years, she has appeared in six 'Carry
On' films, (Up the Khyber, Doctor, Camping, Up the Jungle, Matron and
Girls), Two James Bond films, (The Spy Who Loved Me and Never Say Never
Again), Revenge of the Pink Panther, Zeta One, Can You Keep it Up for A
Week, The Ups and Down's of a Handyman, Queen Kong, The Wild Geese, The
Rise and Rise of Michael Rimmer, No Sex Please We're British, The
Italian Job, and the lead role in Hammer's Blood From The Mummy's Tomb.
Anyone
who grew up in the 1970's will probably remember her series of
advertisements for 'Hai Karate' aftershave that ran each Christmas
between 1969 and 1975.
Indeed,
it was in these ad's for the awful smelling product that I first saw
her myself whilst still a small boy. She made a great impression on me
then and continues to do so today whenever I see her pop up in one of
many classic TV shows of the era.
Her
staggering amount of small screen appearances easily equals her Film
output, and reads like a roll call of classic British Cult TV...The
Saint, The Avengers, The Persuaders, Randall & Hopkirk Deceased, Up
Pompeii, Space:1999, The Goodies, The Morcambe & Wise Christmas
Show, and many more...Her presence has graced many a screen and left
millions of teen-aged boys and men quivering with her statuesque
beauty.
Valerie
still occasionally makes TV appearances, although not anywhere near the
number of her 1970's heyday, and it's great to see her busy with other
projects. More information on Valerie, past and present, is available
from her website. valerieleon.com Where you can also pick yourself up an autographed photo for a few pounds.
